Today felt like a day where I wouldn’t have much time for Devember and wouldn’t get anything done. While I’m writing this it is indeed 11:04 pm already and I am beyond tired but it didn’t go as bad as imagined.
I read up on the SDL_Event structure and implemented it to make the application closeable via the x-button and the arrow-keys can now be used to control the player’s ship on screen. But the best news is that I finally came up with a twist to add to the game. I’m not sure if it’ll work as I imagine it right now, so I won’t tell it just now.
I also had a look at the SDL_image lib and will use it tomorrow to be able to load other filetypes apart form .bmp. I will add the enemies and maybe even their movement, too. I will also re-structure my code some time soon. Since I’ve only been familiarizing myself with SDL and it’s functions all my code is in the main function right now. I will change that to use functions and classes.
