December is a really busy time for me. It’s only the end of november and I’m already struggeling with everyhing that has to be done in the next few weeks. There is a lot of exciting stuff like a new university project that’ll allow me to play around with VR and Google Cardboard, my birthday, christmas, etc. But mostly all those things are keeping me away from my projects. That’s why I decided to join Devember. One hour of programming a day sounds managable. While of course I want to use this hour to work on my ongoing projects, the Match 3 and our team project, I would also love to use Devember for a project I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while now.
A few weeks back I stubled upon an article about mandatory games that every programmer should be able to create and it really intrigued me. So what I would like to do is take that list and create those games. And for each game I’d like to use new technologies: new language, new framework or a new engine to keep things interesting.
I know that it’s a very ambitious project for a month in which I’m already busy with so many other things but one needs high goals to achieve something!
I will work along the article and therefore start with a simple Tetris game in C++. While I have some experience with C++, I have never used it for game development before.
Here is my Devember contract:
I, Barbara v. Hunnius, will participate to the next Devember. My Devember will be working on my active projects and starting my Mandatory Games project. I promise I will program for my Devember for at least an hour, every day of the next December. I will also write a daily public devlog and will make the produced code publicly available on the internet. No matter what, I will keep my promise.
